PHOENIX, AZ—OCTOBER 5, 2013—Ralph and Carolyn Fales Heat Warning raced to his third consecutive win in three starts Saturday afternoon at Turf Paradise while setting the top qualifying time for the $20,000-added John Deere Turf Paradise Juvenile Challenge.
The 10 fastest qualifiers will return to the Arizona desert raceway on October 20th and vie for not only the winner's share of the purse but also a starting spot in the $150,000-Guaranteed John Deere Juvenile Challenge Championship on November 9 at Los Alamitos Race Course.
Making his first start since winning the Desert Classic Futurity on May 3, Heat Warning rolled to a three-quarter length win in :17.887 seconds, a 92 speed index, to set the top mark.
Roldolifo Arvizu rode the bay colt by A Regal Choice for trainer and breeder Matthew Fales. Out of the Thoroughbred mare Dry Heat by Dixeland Heat, Heat Warning has earned $35,591 in his three starts.
Coming off a third place finish in the August 24 John Deere California Juvenile Challenge, Tres Magicals defeated Flirtingwithvolcity by one-length in the last of the three trials. Under jockey Raul Valenzuela the Tres Seis filly recorded the second fastest time of :17.891 seconds.
Dean Frey conditions the California home-bred for Porphyria Carraco. Out of the Fishers Dash mare Fishers Proud, Tres Magicals has won two of six starts this season and earned $13,447.
Matthew Fales also saddled Turn Out The Lite to his first win in three starts in trial #1. The FDD Dynasty gelding, also owned by Carolyn and Ralph Fales, completed the 350 yards in fourth fastest time of :18.054. Joe Ruiz had the riding assignment. Also bred by Matt, Turn Out The Lite is from the Takin On The Cash mare Watchin The Rain.
