Ralph and Carolyn Fales Get Second Futurity Winner This Month at Turf Paradise

PHOENIX, AZ—DECEMBER 15, 2021—Owner-breeders Ralph and Carolyn Fales got their second futurity winner this month at Turf Paradise today when Heartache Tonite defeated Hw One Sweetstreaker by three-quarters in the $53,200 AQRA Quarter Horse Futurity.

On December 9th the couple's 2-year-old homebred Chrissy Ledoux was a decisive winner in the $79,658 AQHA-Turf Paradise Open QH Futurity at the Arizona racetrack.

Ridden by jockey Luis Valenzuela, Heartache Tonite completed the 350 yards in :17.855 seconds, equaling a 94 speed index. It was the third consecutive win for the son of Fales' multiple stakes sire Texas Icon.

The sorrel gelding broke his Maiden at Arizona Downs on September 14th then won an Allowance at Turf Paradise November 26th. He earned $26,600 for the today's futurity win.

Also trained by Ralph, Heartache Tonite is out the Good Reason SA mare Heart An Soul. He has earned $40,309 in five starts this season.

 Runner-up Hw One Sweetstreaker races for owner-breeder Harold Wright and is conditioned by trainer Pedro Soto. Hizain Camacho rode the son of multiple stakes winner One Sweet Jess from the Mr Corona Cash mare Streakins Easy. The bay colt picked up $10,640 to bring his bankroll to $16,163 from seven starts.

Icon Six, another son of Texas Icon, finished a head back to earn $4,788 for third. Benito Vega trains the Arizona-bred colt for owner-breeder Armando Perez-Gomez. Out of the Tres Seis mare Ready And Waitin, Icon Six has earned $11,446. He was fourth in the Arizona Downs Futurity in September.

Lightning Girl, Eyesa Got Easyer, Fayvorita, Tornadoe Bay, Lotsa Fun, Texas First Icon, Ed Dallas and El Woody completed the field.
